John Matthew's Discoveries
Over the years, I have been very fortunate to meet many wonderful autism experts and authors. One of my favorite people is Temple Grandin. Her passion and education in animal science led her to working with companies with large animal slaughterhouse operations and advising them on ways of improving the quality of life of their cattle.
During one of her appearances in Las Vegas, Temple stressed that in order for parents to help their chiildren discover what they want to do with their lives, we need to expose them to as many things as possible.
This page is dedicated to some of the special discoveries made by John Matthew which will hopefully someday lead him to discover his passion.
PHOTOGRAPHY 101
John Matthew has always shown an interest in taking pictures with his camera that he got for Christmas many years ago. Instead of just taking pictures of his legos that he carefully arranged in front of a homemade backdrop, we decided to get him out of the house and into nature. The following photos and blogs were created by John Matthew.
WETLANDS PARK IN FEBRUARY
On Friday afternoon, I went with my friend Christian to Wetlands Park in Las Vegas. It was a sunny and warm day. I am glad that I wore shorts, they helped keep me cool.
We walked over a bridge. Two brown ducks were swimming in the water. We walked along a trail and came to creek where tadpoles swam in the water. I took a picture of them.
I saw some animal holes in the ground. I think they belonged to gophers. I didn’t go near them because animals could pop up out of the holes.
I liked walking on the trails and seeing the trees, bushes and bamboo. The bamboo grew in the water.
We spent most of the afternoon at the park. I am glad that I went.
