My name is Barbie Lauver. This is my blog.
In my pre-children life when alone-time was more abundant, I enjoyed starting and not finishing novels and writing in journals. It wasn't until I recently organized my office closet (another New Year's resolution) that I rediscovered these personal treasures that had been tucked away in some boxes. My desire to write has been rekindled.
I have been happily married to the same wonderful man for over 30 years. We met on a blind date in the Bay Area (right out of a Danielle Steele novel.) We struggled with infertility for the first 11 years of our marriage, but were finally blessed in 1995 with our son, John Matthew. Because the infertility methods did not always end up with a baby, we decided to look into adoption when John Matthew was four years old. God once again answered our prayers, and in 2000 our now 14 year old son James came into our lives and hearts.
I have spent the majority of the last 14 years deeply involved in the autism world, since just about the day that John Matthew was diagnosed with autism. I have met many wonderful, supportive friends along the way who have kept me strong and positive.
In 2014, I decided to take a temporary break from my involvement in the autism community and focus on my boys as they grow into adulthood.
And, now I am a blogger.
